From humble origins as a fishing village, Kusadasi has grown to become one of the most popular holiday resorts in Turkey. Several cruise ships stop at Kusadasi´s modern marina, largely thanks to the towns' close proximity to the incredible Roman ruins at Ephesus.
Visitors are spoilt for choice with three beaches and a lively selection of cafés, bars, restaurants and discos. A cosmopolitan resort with a bustling nightlife, Kusadasi is best suited to couples, groups and families with older children during the peak summer season.
The transfer time from Izmir airport is approximately 1 hour 15 minutes.
Kusadasi is one of the warmest resorts in Turkey with fantastic sunshine and warm temperatures throughout the summer months. Temperatures regularly exceed 30 degrees C during August which is the hottest month.
June to August is the best time to visit if you plan to spend your holiday sunbathing as Kusadasi generally enjoys 13-14 hours of sun a day during these months. Whilst temperatures can be very hot during the daytime in summer, evenings see temperatures drop to a comfortable level.
Kusadasi is a fairly large and sprawling resort which can get very busy during the summer months. Holidaymakers staying at Kusadasi can choose from three sandy beaches; the town beach, Ladies Beach and Long Beach. Anyone looking for an adrenalin rush will find plenty to keep them amused too with a wide range of water sports on offer. When you need a break, step back from the beach to one of the many restaurants and snack bars lining the shore.
The old town at Kusadasi is the best place to shop for souvenirs and gifts. The Grand Bazaar has over 1,000 stalls where you will be expected to haggle to get the best prices on a wide range of goods including clothing, jewellery and handicrafts.
Kusadasi also has plenty of large supermarkets, gift shops and even a weekly market for all your holiday needs.
Kusadasi is set in a bay on the Aegean coast of Turkey, north of Bodrum. As well as the town's beaches, there are several others in the area that are worth a visit. Some of the most unspoilt and beautiful beaches can be found in the Kalamaki National Park, 30km south of Kusadasi. The national park is a wonderful place to escape to for the day if the excitement of Kusadasi gets too much.
If you really like to get under the skin of a destination when on holiday, hire a car and explore inland from Kusadasi. You´ll find traditional villages and friendly locals as well as stunning natural scenery.
