Tunis is the capital city of Tunisia and it is located in Northern Africa, bordered by Libya and Algeria. The city has a great deal of French influence from the period of the French occupation. It is also a largely Muslim city and the Islamic influence is evident as well. The country enjoys a comfortable Mediterranean climate which makes tourism a year round industry.
One of the must see locations in Tunis is the souks. Souks are huge open air markets that allow artisans to sell a wide variety of wares. Everything from gold to pottery can be found in the souks. This is really the big attraction, as there aren’t many other tourist attractions. But for the shopaholic, Tunis is paradise!
