Almeria Holidays

Almeria located on the south eastern coast of Spain on the Mediterranean. Its name stems from the Andalusian Arabic Al-Mariyya “the Mirror” as “the mirror of the sea”. This was a principal harbour founded by Abd ar-Rahman III of Cordoba in 955 to strengthen his Mediterranean defences. Almeria has the driest micro climate in Europe with around 330 days of sun per year. Due to this the arid landscape was host to many spaghetti westerns also Lawrence of Arabia was filmed here. This region also has the largest and most ecologically rich coasts of the western Mediterranean This is all part of the Cabo de Gata Natural Park with its beaches and volcanic origin it’s a true natural jewel to be visited virtually all year round.
