Verona is a city in the northern region of Italy, and is probably most famous as the location from Romeo and Juliet, the famous Shakespeare play. There are a variety of historical sites in Verona that are considered “must see”. Among them are the Roman style arena, Juliet’s house, and the Basilica. There is a penchant in the area for eating horse meat, called cavallo.
Travelers should be aware of this or they may get a surprise. There are a variety of good family run restaurants and small bars as well as a variety of shopping streets. Some of the Piazzas can be somewhat crowded with tourists during the high season, so avoid those and find out where the locals go. You can’t go wrong.
