Milan is located in North Central Italy and is famous for a variety of reasons. It is the headquarters of car manufacturer Alfa Romeo. It is also one of the fashion capitals of the world. Milan produces some of the finest silk textiles in the world as well. Milan is also the home of the original DaVinci painting of the last supper, located at the Santa Maria delle Grazie.
Transportation in the city is still done by the same trams used nearly 100 years ago. The main architectural attraction is the Milan Cathedral, which is a huge baroque building that has taken centuries to complete. Unfortunately for visitors, most of the façade is under restoration and therefore the canvas covered scaffolding is a bit of a distraction. But the layout of the city and the public transportation makes exploring Milan easy and efficient.
