Bergamo Holidays

Bergamo is a city in the north of Italy, about 20 miles from Milan. The city has 2 city centers, the Citta alta or upper city and the Citta bassa or lower city. The Citta alta is the older of the two and is surrounded by big walls and contains the oldest churches, basilicas and the castle. The Citta bassa is the more modern city and this is where most of the residents live. The foothills of the Swiss Alps begin directly north of the city. Because of this, Bergamo is a great base camp for activities in the mountains, but be sure to have your passport visas in order as you don’t want someone to think you’re trying to enter Switzerland illegally.
