Vainguinim Beach Holidays

Vainguinim Beach is located on the South Goa coast just a little south of the capital city of Panjim. It is recognised as being a quiet and peaceful location with a vast expanse of beach leading down to crystal clear waters. The waters, as with much of the Arabian Sea, are suitable for swimming in close to the shore but can be rougher further out.

The resort is located a short 30km drive from South Goa's Dabolim International Airport which is served by a number of airlines. Alternatively almost all the major international airlines fly into Mumbai with an easy onward connecting flight to Dabolim.

Goa enjoys hot temperatures all year round with very little variation between the seasons. Coastal resorts such as Vainguinim Beach have the benefit of a sea breeze and the area is consequently an all year round destination. Nevertheless the monsoon season runs from June to September when the rains can be heavy, if brief, making September to March therefore the more popular period for visiting.

Lush vegetation surrounds the resort making it popular for walkers as well as bird watching enthusiasts. It is said that you may catch sight of over 500 species of birds in the plantation near the resort. Close by only a few kilometres away is the Dr. Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary, a 2 square kilometre mangrove forest which is home to both domestic and migratory birds of all types. Aside from bird watching there are plenty of water sports and diving on offer with a water sports festival taking place in November each year with a variety of races and a surfing competition.

Accommodation is generally of a high standard with a number of luxury hotels including most notably the five star Vainguinim Beach Resort (arguably one of the best hotels in Goa set in 40 acres of gardens). This hotel offers a casino which is claimed to be India's largest and is open to all visitors. The large hotels offer a range of activities, entertainment, sport and excursions. Some like the Vainguinim Beach Resort offer a complimentary bus to visit the capital city which is only a short distance away. The capital with its Portuguese influences is well worth a visit with numerous building and landmarks to explore as well as a vibrant commercial centre which is highly recommended for its shopping malls.

The hotels offer a wide range of cuisine both local and international. Alternatively dotted along the sea front are many small restaurants serving seafood and other local specialities.

It is easy to get around the area with local buses being easily accessible. Vainguinim Beach is ideally located to visit sites in both North and South Goa making it a great holiday base. Dona Paula Beach is only a 20 minute walk or short taxi ride away and offers a more commercialised beach resort with many facilities and activities on offer. It is a popular picnicking spot as well as there being a ferry ride which can be taken to the port of Vasco de Gama.
