Nissi Beach Cyprus

Nissi Beach is situated on the south coast of Cyprus where the white sand meets the clear, turquoise water of the Mediterranean sea. It is beautifully presented with large tropical gardens that encompass the area. The image should conjure up a relative paradise and for some it has made a memorable wedding location. Nissi Beach is also a great location for families with small children; Cyprus is very child friendly and children are welcomed and catered for throughout the island.

Getting to Nissi Beach

Flights are from London or one of the regional U.K. airports to Larnaca in Cyprus. Reaching your destination at Nissi Beach is easy from Larnaca. It is a short bus ride or taxi ride from the airport.

There is an excellent Taxi service from Larnaca International Airport to any destination in Cyprus. You can name your start and ending point and get a quote directly online. There is the added benefit that you will not have to concern yourself with finding currency to pay, because you will pay online before departure. Details are on the Larnaca International Airport website.

Also you will see details of the Cyprus.nu, an organisation known as 'Friends of the Larnaca International Airport. They can also help you with any questions you may have.

Getting Around

Car-hire is an easy option and there are many companies to select from. You may prefer a scooter if you intend to do some beach hopping and both can be hired locally. There is also a bus service running along the coast, so you will find it easy enough to get around and explore the area. The locals are friendly and always a good source of local information.

Scooter Hire

There are many scooter hire companies in and around Nissi Beach if this is your preferred mode of transport. It is a legal requirement to wear a helmet. The road regulations are much the same as they are in the U.K.

What to See

Nissi Beach offers a complete family package with water-sports, a clean safe beach, (awarded the blue flag) and shopping for those souvenirs. The shops at Nissi are more limited but still offer an enjoyable shopping experience and it isn't very far away from the shopping heaven at Ayia Napa.

There is an Island off Nissi Beach that you can easily swim out to and makes the perfect wedding location. This is a great place to relax and soak up the sun and the atmosphere and to find a secluded place for some romancing. The beach is long (500 m) and even though it is popular, there is loads of room for everyone. The water is safe for children and because it is shallow and calm, paddling is more enjoyable. The children will love seeing the Pelicans that land on Nissi beach. Get those cameras ready.

You may enjoy an excursion to the Troodos Mountains a little to the west and running centrally through the heart of Cyprus. There are many walking trails to enjoy and explore, but they do become difficult during wet weather. It will take around an hour to reach the mountains.

Water Sports

Nissi Beach offers everything you could wish for in water sports.

  • Windsurfing
  • Water-Skiing
  • Scuba Diving
  • Speed Boats
  • Snorkelling
  • Kayaking
  • Boat Trips

Scuba diving lessons can be booked locally and a course of three days will give you all you need to be able to tackle the clear, deeper waters of the Mediterranean.

Nightlife

Nissi Beach has DJ's throughout the day at the bars and in the evening the parties continue. If you really want to party all night, go to nearby Ayia Napa where you will find many Karaoke bars and more enticing clubs.

Eating Out

Nissi Beach area offers a wide range of restaurants and lively bars with a menu to suit all tastes, including a children's menu. You can find International cuisine and themed buffets and beautiful settings overlooking Nissi beach.

This is a holiday for the whole family where you can relax and enjoy the sun, sea and hospitality. The tourist is an important part of the economy in Cyprus and they aim to please.
