Aphrodite Hills Cyprus

Getting There

Situated just outside Paphos, this 5 star luxury Cyprus resort is a firm favourite as a holiday destination in the Mediterranean. To reach the resort, leave Paphos International Airport and drive straight for 5km on the B6 before turning left. Carry on, now following signs for Lemesos. Follow the A6 for 15km and leave at the exit marked "Petra tou Ramiou", finally following the signs for the Aphrodite Hills Resort. The journey should take no longer than 20 minutes.

Cyprus is the third largest island in the Mediterranean and has an eclectic range of scenery; from beaches to pine mountains. The currency of the country is the Euro and English is widely spoken. Radio, satellite and TV services are available in English, as well as English newspapers. Cars are right hand drive, driven on the left and are legal to drive on a UK license. The locals are famous for being exceptionally friendly, so there will always be somebody at hand if you should be in need of any help during your stay in the country.

Places to Stay

Within the resort itself are two accommodation options. You can either stay in the Intercontinental Hotel or in the privately owned villas in the resort. The hotel is ideal for couples and families, with their 290 guest rooms decorated to reflect the sun by using deep oranges, red and gold. All rooms have a private terrace with a pool or garden view and there is the option of adjoining rooms which may be ideal for a young family. Each room also has the choice of an outdoor Jacuzzi or a private plunge pool. The privately owned villas are available to rent and are situated on and around the golf course. Suited to those who prefer a more private, self serving holiday, these villas are built based on traditional Cypriot villages and have exquisite views of the sea or the golf course.

Things to Do

Although renowned for the golf and tennis opportunities at the resort, there is also a wide range of activities including water sports, mountain biking and nature trails. If you don't want to partake in an activity with your children, a babysitting service is available which must be booked at least 48 hours in advance. There are also a number of children's clubs, including a crèche for those between 6 and 35 months, the Pegasus mini-club for ages 3-12, the Rainbow kids club for ages 2-12 and the Grotto fun club for those between 13 and 17. Activities in the clubs are matched with the ages of the children in attendance.

Golf Course

The resort boasts an 18 hole golf course, which spans 6299m across the resort. Opened in 2002, this facility provides one to one tuition for both beginners and experienced players alike. The clubhouse offers changing facilities as well as bar and restaurant areas and the golf shop stocks the latest fashions in golf wear.

Tennis Academy

With spectacular views of the Mediterranean, the tennis academy offers coaching for all levels of players. There are 4 clay courts and 5 hard green courts, all of which have flood lighting. The coaching packaging are tailored to individual ability and group lessons are available for families or groups. The "Smash Bar" provides drinks and snacks and there is also a shop which contains everything that you might need to play the sport.

There are over 14 restaurants and bars in the resort, each of them dedicated to a different global taste. In these restaurants, you can sample foods from Italy, Asia, America and many more countries across the world. The Aphrodite Hills Resort signature restaurant has scenic views across the golf course.

The Retreat Spa

If you would like a relaxing stay, the Retreat Spa is sure to please. The spa won the "Best Spa in Europe" award in 2008 at the professional beauty awards and is inspired by the Roman baths of cleansing and relaxation. Treatments include hydrotherapy, manicure, pedicure and massage. There is a restaurant and juice bar, which serves invigorating smoothies, health tonics and herbal teas. Day passes are available with special group rates, or you can just pay for single treatments. You can also book for longer stays and these are available for anything between two and five days.

No matter what you choose to do at the Aphrodite Hills Resort, there is something for everyone so nobody is disappointed. Whether you choose to relax in the spa, or play a fast action tennis tournament, this holiday is sure to be one to remember.
