Set on its own three hundred acre private island Jumby Bay is a high class resort sitting two miles off the mainland of Antigua. This exclusive destination is a naturalists haven, with its lush landscape groves of palm trees and three white sandy idyllic beaches. The waters around the island are home to nurse sharks, eagle rays and reef fish and the island is visited by pelicans. The resort is only accessed by boat making it an ideal destination for those who wish to hide away from the modern world and unwind in total luxury.
There are forty beautifully furnished rooms and suites at Jumby Bay including luxury villas that spread across this private island. Any guest here will feel cocooned in their own piece of paradise. The rooms range from the Rondavel which are located in little octagonal cottages with wrap around terraces to the ultimate luxury and seclusion of the Rosewood Estate Suite, one bedroom pieces of splendour including a courtyard and fountain. Each villa has its own infinity pool offering stunning views of the Caribbean sea, a patio tub and a rain shower. This is definitely not a destination for those looking for children's clubs and water aerobics.
To complete the itinerary of luxury items each suite comes with bicycles for getting around the island, twice daily housekeeping, in room food services, bath robes, internet with wi-fi, plasma screen televisions, a mini bar and coffee machine. If you can bear to tear yourself away from your courtyard or terrace then the resort offers a host of included amenities; being all inclusive means that all the bar and dining services are included, there are three tennis courts and a range of non motorised watersports including snorkelling and sailing. Chose from the two pools, a freshwater lap pool and the oceanfront infinity pool.
The resort is also the home of the Hawksbill Turtle Project. A team at Jumby Bay have been tagging and recording the breeding turtles that visit the beaches for the last twenty years. Visit at the right time of year and you could take part in a turtle watch with the team, a real once in a lifetime experience.
The resort also offers, but at an extra charge, scuba diving, deep sea fishing, golf on the mainland and a variety of tours and trips around Antigua.
The resort also specialises in weddings, imagine spending your special day on a private island and then honeymooning in your own Caribbean villa with a fountain playing outside your window. The resort's Wedding Coordinator will happily make all arrangements for the day and even accompany you to St Johns to obtain your marriage licence.
Getting to the island can only be achieved by boat. After landing in Antigua guests are transferred by a short private cruise to Jumby Bay. The flight time to Antigua from the UK is around eight hours. In less than a day you could be far away from the everyday routine and sitting back in the piece of luxury that is Jumby Bay.
