Aruba is renowned throughout the world for its stunning white powdery beaches and clear warm turquoise Caribbean waters and the beaches on the island are a big attraction for holidaymakers. Eagle Beach is located north of Oranjestad, on the west coast of Aruba, nestling between Palm Beach and Manchebo Beach. Here the visitor will be delighted to find miles and miles of fine powdery sand and welcoming surf. Despite Eagle Beach being the second most popular beach in Aruba it has a reputation for being a calm and tranquil area.
The hotels along this stretch of coast have their own water sports centres where visitors can hire equipment or have instruction on such sports as windsurfing, parasailing, snorkelling, sailing, fishing and scuba diving. Diving in the Caribbean is excellent, with so many brightly coloured and fascinating sea creatures and corals to enjoy and the water is warm. Motorised sports such as jet ski are popular on Eagle Beach and are also available at the water sports centres at the hotels lining the street next to the beach. Eagle Beach is easily accessible via taxi, car or bus and the local bus service is regular and reliable around the island.
The beach consists of very warm shallow waters and a wide stretch of sand and there are designated picnic areas in the shade, making this a great beach for families. There are palm trees lining the edge of the beach and beach umbrellas and shade huts for hire. Eagle Beach is one of the best beaches on the island and is very popular with local people, especially at the weekends. North of Eagle Beach is Palm Beach with a dramatic rocky outcrop. It is worth walking around to the rocky limestone to see the flocks of green parakeets who have made this area their home.
Many of the activities available in Eagle Beach are related to the water. There are several short cruises and day trips available including catamaran trips which offer spacious seating, bar, snacks and Caribbean music, as well as sunset dinner cruises. There are also Mexican fiesta cruises and champagne brunch cruises.
Visitors can take the open Caribbean bus to all of Aruba's most popular sites around the island from Eagle Beach. Aruba's largest casino is located in Eagle Beach resort and a mini golf area can be found close to the beach. Alternatively visitors can hire a car and explore the island independently or book organised sea or land trips via booking offices or hotels. Queen Beatrix International Airport is only a 15 minute drive from the resort. The capital city of Oranjestad is just 5 minutes drive away and offers the visitor restaurants, nightclubs, dance clubs, bars and cafes as well as cinemas. There is also a great opportunity for shopping in the malls with their fashionable boutiques and gift shops. Eagle Beach is well located for visiting the major sites on the island including California Lighthouse, the Natural Pool and Natural Bridge.
