Coco Beach Holidays

On the south east tip of the island of Antigua you will find Coco Beach. The southern half of the island is more relaxed and this picturesque bay is the ideal place to do a spot of unwinding. White sand is lapped by the crystal waters of the Caribbean and the edges of the beach are sheltered by palm trees.

The bay is dominated by the Coco's Hotel, a wing of the popular St James' hotel and is visited by people looking for a little piece of desert island peace. All rooms overlook the beach and are spacious and airy. A nice gesture is the parting gift of a bottle of Rum so you can take some of the Caribbean back home with you. There are two beaches to chose from here, the calmer waters of the lagoon or the ocean side where the sea breeze will help keep you cool in the Caribbean sun.

There are only seventy two rooms in the hotel arranged over two floors, split into three buildings. All have a balcony or terrace overlooking the beautiful beach and are furnished to a high standard. The superior rooms offer direct access to the beach. The resort offers a number of activities as part of its all inclusive package; water sports including kayaking, pedalos, windsurfing and snorkelling and a non seafaring option in tennis and a fitness centre. The hotel also has a swimming pool for those who prefer to avoid the beach. Families are well catered for as there is a children's club so the young ones are taken care of whilst you lay by the pool drinking a cocktail.

The restaurant overlooks the beach and has both a buffet and a la carte menu. A popular retreat for those seeking shade in the day it is also the place for a relaxing pre dinner drink as the sunsets over the beach.

There isn't a lively entertainment programme as the main reason for visiting this hotel is the daytime activity on the beautiful beach but it does host a cocktail party two nights a week (held in the St James complex). The hotel does have a dress code so make sure that you take some collared shirts or smart shorts for the evening, beach wear is a no no in the restaurant.

Transfer time to Coco Beach from the airport is around forty five minutes. Coco Beach is in quite an isolated location so touring around the island is best carried out by organized tour from the resort or there are always local taxis willing to transport the sightseer around the island although most visitors come to Coco Beach to enjoy the beach and the laid back attitude whilst having all the amenities of an all inclusive hotel to hand. Perhaps not the best spot for those wanting complete isolation and quiet or for those wanting to be on top of the island's attractions, but definitely the place for a good, well catered holiday in the Caribbean sun.
