Beach of the Englishman is the translation for Playa del Ingles, a very upscale resort located in Gran Canaria. Playa del Ingles was build in circa 1960s specifically to provide a place of relaxation for those who seek a holiday on a beautiful resort which boasts a tropical climate.
And indeed everywhere in Playa del Ingles is as gorgeous as they come. As a large resort, brimming with some of the finest hotels, shopping centres and not to mention scenic attractions. One of those glitzy resorts which appeals to both the young and young and heart visitors.
This resort is snuggled between the two resort towns of Maspalomas and San Agustin. Both Maspalomas and San Agustin meet at the 8km long beach that is there. With the sand dunes of Maspalomas providing the backdrop for the calming San Agustin waters.
The beach is tastefully sectioned off so that the prudish traveller would not have to feel too shy about seeing a nudist walking by. Near the beach you will find a few bars but if you get hungry and desire some meals you would have to walk a little way off in order to do so.
The commute in Playa del Ingles is quite easy depending on where you are going. For instance while public transportation are always available and can take you throughout the town via the many bus routes that are around, getting from your hotel or holiday apartment especially when going to the beach can be a bit of a challenge.
Most of the bus and taxi drivers would take you nearby leaving you to walk about a mile away to get to the beach. Since you would have a lot of walking to do to get to the beach, it is highly recommended that you wear a pair of comfortable shoes. Reserve a day to visit the sand dunes in Maspalomas as you would witness the sand formations that are there.
Visitors to the dune can view this spectacular affair from on top of a camels back, which most say is the best view of them all. There are no mountains in Playa del Ingles however other resort towns in Gran Canaria have mountains and volcanoes for which you can hike. And some 15 minute away from Playa del Ingles is Palmitos Park which is the home to many fish, plants and reptiles. Most hotels schedule tours to this park where nature lovers can enjoy a daily showcase of eagles, parrots and hawks.
Change the way you do family holidays by visiting the gorgeous Playa del Ingles resort in Gran Canaria. A very clean and inviting place to be, Playa del Ingles is by far one of the biggest prettiest resorts in all of Gran Canaria. The skyline at nights glitter with lights and the neon colours from some of the signs on the buildings can really put you in a festive mood.
