Matagorda resort is on the east coastal region of Lanzarote. This resort which was once a small fishing village is one half of two resorts, the other being Los Pocillos. Matagorda and Los Pocillos are separated by a tastefully designed promenade which is lined with a few restaurants and bars.
Matagorda is a relatively new resort and there is proof of this especially when you step in to one of the many accommodations here. Consisting of villas and self-contained apartments, you can expect modern living styles as well as the highest quality of service. Because of the predominant summer weather that is experienced throughout the year in Matagorda you would find that most of your holiday time spent here would include long days at the beach or around some other water activities just so you can cool down.
You would be thrilled to know that Matagorda is situated near to several beaches for which you can choose from. Volcanic sand meets clean blue waters at the Playa de Matagorda beach and elsewhere you can visit other beaches such as Barilla or Pena Grande for instance. The beaches here are great for water-sporting activities which include windsurfing. There are also amenities on some of these beaches which include a shower and toilet and a place for you to change your clothing in privacy.
As a quiet resort when you are in Matagorda you have relaxation guaranteed. However, if you are interested in leveling up on your leisure then you can do so at Puerto del Carmen which is five minutes away from Matagorda. It is there you would be able to enjoy the lively atmosphere at the clubs and bars there which are opened until sunrise. Excursions about Matagorda and most of Lanzarote are recommended as there are a lot of historic buildings and places that you would want to see.
As you journey throughout Matagorda and the rest of the island, it would become clear how much of a modernised place Matagorda has become. The architectural style here is new and fresh especially when compared to the more traditional ones on the outskirts of town. Visit the Wine Museum of Lanzarote, which is one of the oldest wineries in all of the Canaries.
Existing since circa 1700s, the winery has all the makings of a traditional Lanzarote property with its thick walls made from volcanic materials with large ceiling beams. As you explore the interior of the winery you would see the machinery that was used to distill wine years ago which is on display here.
Create new holiday memories in the quiet and serene resort of Matagorda in Lanzarote. Matagorda is oozing with all the trimmings of what a fantastic holiday should be whether you are travelling as a couple or with family. Looking around and Matagorda it is hard to believe that this was once an old fishing village. There is definitely no evidence of that here as the place has gone through a metamorphosis like no other. The architectural style here is a giveaway as to how non-traditional Matagorda is especially when compared to other resorts that are around.

You can choose to rest and relax on black volcanic sand beaches which have clear and calming waters that are great for swimming and windsurfing.
