Arguineguin Holidays

The name comes from the Guanche word for “quiet water”. Also an attractive built-up resort in southern Gran Canaria. The pride and joy of many tourists such as the Germans, Scandinavians and especially the Norwegians, Arguineguin has appeal and charm that tourists cannot resist.

Many years ago it known fishing village which today is still represented by the town’s thriving port. Today not only are people visiting Arguineguin for holidays they are also investing in holiday properties as well.

You can choose to come here just about any time of the year as the summers and winters are hot and warm and like elsewhere in Gran Canaria, you can always look forward to a spectacular view of the hills in the distance. The harbour in this town also lends to the natural attraction here.

Things to do in Arguineguin

In Arguineguin you are never far away from catching the bus to travel to other resorts if you so desire for the public transportation is quite convenient and the highway and interchange here also make it easy to explore this scenic country. The beaches here have coarse sands but the waters are warm and inviting and superb for getting into some jet-skiing, windsurfing or even scuba diving. There are also boat rides that would take you to other scenic parts of the island. You would love shopping here simply because the prices on items do not include taxes.

In addition to visiting the shopping centres that are in and around Arguineguin you can also pick up a few bargains along the way at the Tuesday night weekly market. The market is a big deal and it draws many visitors who are looking for a variety of products including clothing, fragrances and jewellery to name a few.

Perhaps after your hours of shopping you can check out this really gorgeous promenade which after a really long walk you would end up in Patalavaca. Eating out in Arguineguin will expose you to both local and International dishes which can be enjoyed at a restaurant or you may prefer the ambience of a café.

There are exclusive fish restaurants here where customers can feast on fish that has been caught only a few hours before preparation and serving time. The fish restaurants here also serve as constant reminds of a fishing town. There is actually a fish co-operative here which has been consistently providing the restaurants with fresh fish to serve their patrons.

When your night calls for some entertainment you can check out one of the bars in Arguineguin or you can also travel down to one of the larger hotels where they have live entertainment. And if you are looking for a place to go clubbing until the early morning then you should head to Puerto Rico which is only a ferry ride away.
