Amadores Holidays

One of the new kids on the block when it comes to resorts in Gran Canaria is the resort town of Amadores. Amadores is some 20 minutes away from the resort called Puerto Rico. Because of how close these resorts are to each other, it allows the visitor to add variety and scenery to their holiday agenda. Independently, Amadores is just as beautiful.

It is the ideal place to spend your holiday as you are locked in to a world that offers you several beaches, modernly-built hotels and apartments and of course brilliant sunshine throughout the year. One of the first attractions that woo visitors when they visit Amadores is its sprawling man-made beach of nothing but clear and calming waters and gorgeous white imported sands.

What attracts more people to this beach is the fact that the water is so shallow that it is perfect for children and adults who are afraid to swim in the deep, wide ocean. In addition one can also scuba dive and snorkel here or just choose to take a stroll on the beach and absorb its serenity. Nearby, there are a wide range of restaurants and bars where you can retreat after spending a few hours on the beach.

Amadores is truly blessed to be a part of a beautiful island such as Gran Canaria because all over this island you are likely to find some places that would intrigue and impress you. A tour of the quaint villages here will give you an idea of how the residents live. The villages hold a charm like no other and it helps that the people here are quite friendly as well.

Transportation is scarce in Amadores and most of the roads here are very hilly and steep. If you need to tour the island though, there are jeep safaris some of which would take you to Mount Tejeda where you will be enthralled by the sight of the forests there in addition to the towering rocky mountains that you would see and this area is also the home to a few reservoirs too.

Another way in which you can occupy your time while here in Amadores is to go game fishing which can be competitive and therapeutic at the same time. The ultimate prize at the end of the day would be to catch a large blue marlin which weighs several pounds. It is this same ocean where you are likely to see a few dolphins and whales swimming around.

Things to do in Amadores

Amadores is located close to other resorts such as Puerto Rico and it is also well positioned hear a few of Gran Canaria’s star attractions which would give you more to see and do when you come here. Not very far away from the resort are three golf courses where you can enjoy a relaxing game as you watch others play or you can choose to practice your swing if you like.

Elsewhere, the town of Maspalomas offers an excellent 18-hole golf course that is replete with views of the nature reserve and sand dunes in the short distance. Even if you are not a golfer, Amadores offers a few other options that you may find interesting. Perhaps you may care for a visit to Aqualand which is a fun haven and a good place to cool down away from the sun. Visitors to Acqualand can try out any one of the thirty water slides that are there with the most popular rides being the Tornado and Anaconda. More than a water park, Aqualand also gives you the opportunity to swim along with the sea lions that are also there. Shopping in Amadores is a pleasure as there are no taxes charged on the items you purchase.

The shops offer quality and unique items that would be well appreciated if you decide to give them as gifts or as souvenir items. The items are sold at the shopping centres here and you can purchase anything from jewellery to ceramics and leather items to name a few. A diverse menu awaits you when you decide to eat out in Amadores.

Eating Out

You will be able to choose to eat at a restaurant, tapa bar or café. Fish is a staple in Amadores as well as the rest of the Canary Islands and there are some restaurants that only serve fish dishes. However if you have never tried Canarian food and want to sample it, then its best that you order tapas which would allow you to taste everything Canarian in just one plate.

You get small portions of some of the popular dishes on the island so that you are able to choose your favourite dish at the end of sampling. Amadores shuts down very early in the night so this is not the place to enjoy night-time entertainment. Amadores’ idea of night time fun is sitting at a bar having a few drinks with friends. However, if you want to enjoy a vibrant nightlife with clubs and a few more entertainment choices, then head over to neighbouring Puerto Rico.
